Gambia: Man Arraigned for Issuing False Cheque

One Narendra Kumar Tulsyani, an Indian was on Tuesday arraigned before Magistrate Dawda Jallow of the Kanifing Magistrates' Court. The accused is charged with issuing of false cheque contrary to the Laws of The Gambia.

The particulars of offence indicated that the accused sometime in the months of March and May 2011 while in India, authorized his wife, Vimala Tulsyani at Kairaba Avenue to issue two First International Bank cheques of R.S Enterprise No 001042602 dated 25th May 2011, face value D550, 000 and cheque No 001042603 dated 30th May 2011, face value D752, 000 to Modou Touray of Affordable Enterprise who in turn paid it to Bank PHB, knowing that there is no sufficient funds in the said account.

The accused pleaded not guilty to the charge and was granted bail in the sum of D50, 000 with one Gambian surety. Sergeant 3560 Colley stood for the IGP. The case was adjourned to the 26th November 2012 for continuation.
