Gambia: SESDO Sanctions TK Snookers, Others

The Serekunda East Sports Development Committee, SESDO this week handed a one-year suspension to Tallinding-based outfit TK Snookers for their part in the melee that preceded a Nawettan game against Culture last week.

The Committee has also suspended TK Snookers Captain Yuba Manneh and another of their players, Saihou Ceesay, from all Serekunda East-related matters for two years. A fan from the same team by the name Baba Ceesay was also given a similar punishment.

Adama Sallah, the team representative for the Tallinding-based outfit has also been banned from all Serekunda East activities for one year. The club will also forfeit the gate takings from that match.

SESDO also fined Bundung-based Culture D1000 for their own part in the melee that took nearly an hour before order was finally restored at the venue. The incident started at the end of the final whistle when a 1-0 scoreline win for Culture knocked TK Snookers out of the competition.

Speaking to Observer Sports, Babou Sohna the public relations officer of SESDO, said their verdict was based on the match officials report and eye witness accounts. He urged teams to accept defeat in good faith and respect the spirit of fair play.

When contacted by Observer Sports, Adama Sallah, the team representative of TK Snookers, confirmed the decision of the Committee but said they would launch an appeal before Friday. The Culture team representative, Sankung Touray, also confirmed receiving a written confirmation from the Committee. He alsosaid they will appeal against the decision.
