Egypt: Petroleum Ministry Organizes Meeting On Maritime Border Demarcation

The Ministry of Petroleum organized on Tuesday 13/11/2012 a meeting for maritime border demarcation.

Attending the meeting were Minister of Petroleum Osama Kamal and senior officials from the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Defense along with international experts.

The participants asserted the importance of such an issue for maintaining Egypt's rights to its natural resources.

Kamal explained that the ministry is offering bids for oil exploration in specific maritime areas that are well defined to steer away from any disputes on this score. He cited as an example a recent oil exploration bid in the Mediterranean Sea.

The participants presented the meeting with a detailed explanation for international agreements on maritime border demarcation.
