Ebrima Sonko, a CID officer attached to the Brusubi Police Station, Tuesday, November 13th 2012 served as the second prosecution witness in the ongoing criminal trial involving the State against Yunusa Barry and Ousainou Camara at the Bundung Magistrates' Court presided over by Magistrate Edward Singhateh. The accused persons are charged with one count of theft contrary to the Laws of The Gambia.
Testifying in court, Sonko said he recognised the accused persons and can recall the 19th August 2012 while he was on duty, he received a case file involving the two accused persons. He said he confronted the accused persons and they admitted stealing a laptop valued at D18, 000 and sold the said laptop at the Serrekunda market to an unknown person in the sum of D3, 000.
Sonko said he and one Corporal Jammeh were led by the accused persons to the Serrekunda market for them to find the person whom the accused persons sold the stolen laptop to. According to the CID officer, the accused persons were unable to identify the said person and were charged with stealing.
The case was adjourned for hearing. Corporal 3466 Sawaneh stood for the IGP.
