Gambia: Wellingara Resident Convicted of Threatening Violence

The Bundung Magistrates' Court presided over by Magistrate Landing M. Sanneh Tuesday convicted and sentenced one Jumba Manneh to pay a fine of D2, 000 in default to serve one-year imprisonment for the offence of threatening violence, contrary to the Laws of The Gambia.

The particulars of offence stated that on the 6th April 2012 at Wellingara, Kombo North District, the convict threatened to kill one Modou Sawaneh, thereby committed an offence.

The accused pleaded not guilty which prompted the prosecution to call four witnesses while the convict on the other hand called three other witnesses in support of his case but the prosecution was however able to prove its case beyond all reasonable doubts to sustain his (the convict) conviction. He was therefore sentenced accordingly.
