SEVERAL senior government officials are set to benefit from a training session on public speaking this week.
A two-day training course to be opened by the Speaker of Parliament, Hon Anne Makinda, will be conducted by the Institute of African Leadership for Sustainable Development, commonly known as "UONGOZI Institute" in Morogoro.
"The ability to effectively communicate with the public is essential to successful leadership," said the Chief Executive Officer of UONGOZI Institute, Prof Joseph Semboja, in Dar es Salaam, adding that the course will focus on further strengthening and developing various competencies required in order for leaders to confidently speak in public and authoritatively respond to questions.
Prof Semboja added that the course is a part of leadership development programmes developed after the institute opened doors. Programme delivery has now taken off. The course will cover various aspects of public speaking, including delivering a speech, analysing and internalising questions quickly before responding to them, and maintaining a logical thought pattern.
UONGOZI Institute seeks to support African leaders to excel in their role of transforming society to realise Africa's development in a sustainable manner. The Institute offers training, conducts research and organises roundtable discussions for current leaders who have an important role in society's development, as well as emerging leaders who have the potential to make a positive contribution to sustainable development in Africa.
