Angola: Nation Supports Reintegration of Zimbabwe in International Diamond Market

Victoria Falls — The Angolan minister of Geology and Mining, Francisco Manuel Monteiro de Queiroz, has acknowledged the key role played by Zimbabwe in diamond sector and other mineral resources which ranks the country as one of the major producers in the continent and the world.

The minister said so at the conference of diamond sector of Zimbabwe held between 12 and 13 November in Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe.

The official said that in the capacity of member pioneer of Kimberley Process and Association of Diamond Producing African Countries, "Angola always sticks to the balanced and fair solutions.

"It was under this principles that Angola supports the reintegration of Zimbabwe in the international diamond market and thus foster socio-economic development of that country based on its natural resources" - he said.

The official stressed that Angola also cooperated in implementing of policies so that the diamonds produced by Zimbabwe could create more profitability throughout the value network.

The incumbent minister underlined that the event was held at time of great affirmation of diamond sector of Zimbabwe.

According to him, there is a greater expectation on diamond sector of Zimbabwe, due to its potential.

However, the Angolan minister thanked the colleagues, the Association of African Diamond Producing Countries, as well as the chairperson of the Kimberley Process, Mrs. Gillian Milovanovic, for support extended to the people of Zimbabwe on its reintegration in the international diamond market. "
