Angola: Geology Minister Reiterates Attractiveness of Minerals

Victoria Falls — Angolan minister of Geology and Mining, Francisco Manuel Monteiro de Queiroz, said that Angola is an attractive country in investments in sub-sector of diamond and other minerals.

The minister said so at the conference of diamond sector of Zimbabwe held on 12-13 November in Victoria Falls.

The minister based on the figures recorded in 2011 which points out a production of diamonds in Angola of 8.329.000 karats estimated at more than AKz 100.1 billion.

The official considered as some factors of the current mining state in Angola the political, economic and social stability, as well as the huge potential Kimberley, the existence of major mining potential countrywide, the attractive tax regime and legal framework.

He said that the government approved the tools of major impact for the sector, with emphasis on the National Geology Planning and the mining code, which got into force in December 2011.
