Zambia: Three Jailed for Robbing Kavindele

THREE Lusaka youths have been jailed for 30 months with hard labour for breaking into former republican vice-president, Enock Kavindele's residence and stealing three motor vehicle tyres valued at K15 million.

Lusaka resident magistrate Nsonge Chanda on Monday imprisoned Japhat Mwanza, 21, Nelson Silungwe, 25, and Kelvin Matabula, 25 of Mtendere Township.

This was after they admitted that they stole the tyres from Mr Kavindele's residence in Ibex area.

On October 19, this year the three stole three tyres and a motor vehicle rim valued at K15 million belonging to Mr Kavindele.

Mwanza, Silungwe and Matabula told the court that they were influenced by the devil to steal Mr Kavindele's property.
