Pretoria — Telkom has appointed Attila Vitai as managing director of Telkom Mobile, the company said on Wednesday.
The communications services provider said that Vitai - whose appointment became official as of Wednesday - brought a wealth of experience to the company with his 20-year track record of senior management in the telecoms industry.
"I am confident that Attila's vast knowledge and experience of this industry will translate into positive growth in our mobile arm.
"We welcome him to Telkom and wish him all the best in his new endeavour," Telkom group CEO Nombulelo Moholi said.
Vitai has previously worked at Motorola as vice president in Europe for 12 years, while he also carries eight years as chief executive officer of two large Vodafone businesses in Hungary and Turkey.
Telkom said his experience would be invaluable in growing Telkom Mobile into a profitable and sustainable business in a highly competitive industry.
The qualified chartered accountant holds an MBA from the Henley Business School at the University of Reading, among his other qualifications.
