Gambia: National Wrestling Championship Set for Saturday

The Gambia Wrestling Association will on Saturday organise a national wrestling championship at the Serrekunda West Mini-Stadium. The aim of the championship is to prepare Gambian wrestlers ahead of the forthcoming four-nation Ecowas Wrestling Championship to be hosted by The Gambia.

This was revealed to Observer Sports by the organisers of the championship who also intimated that all affiliated clubs have been invited to participate in the one-day national championship. They added that clubs are allowed to bring five wrestlers each to participate in five different categories identified for the championships which they disclosed as 120Kg, 100Kg, 86Kg, and 66Kg.

The weighing and medical check-ups forwrestlers that will compete in the Championship will take place at 11am on Friday at the Serrekunda West Mini-Stadium. Tickets for the event are as follows: Children, D10; adults D25; and VIP D50.
