Gambia: Youki Country Sales Manager Vows to Invest in Gambian Football

Basse — The country sales manager of the Youki brand of Banjul Breweries, Borri Darboe, has vowed to invest in the development of football in the country especially at the grassroots level.

Darboe made the remark during an interview with this reporter at the Basse Mini-Stadium after the final of the 2012 edition of the Youki-sponsored Nawettan Competition. The tournament was sponsored by Youki at a tune of D45.000. Darboe said that the development of Gambian football has become their top development priority as they have been sponsoring lots of Nawettans in the country especially in the rural areas, this year.

He disclosed that they are currently sponsoring lots of tournaments in the country. "I have seen very skilful footballers in the rural areas, I think if they are encouraged and motivated, they are going to be promising footballers in the country, so this is why we want to invest in football at the grassroots level," he added.

He further disclosed that they have been supporting the government of The Gambia particularly in the areas of education, health and agriculture.
