Cameroon: Woman Killed in Mambanda

Thirty-five year-old Noumbissi Mengue Caroline, a resident at Carrefour Wamba in the Mambanda neighbourhood, died yesterday morning after receiving a stray bullet.

Ngnintedem Jerome, the deceased's husband told CT that they were woken around 4am by the sound of gun shots and voices ordering them to open the doors to the house. While he rushed and hid in the bathroom, his panic-stricken wife rose up to open the door leading to their room, which resulting in a stray bullet into her head.

Meanwhile, unable to break through the main door, the hoodlums moved to the rear of the house and broke the wooden door with an axe. In the room, an argument ensued between the two gangsters on whether to kill the husband too. They fled after seizing the sum of FCFA 100.000, a laptop, a flat TV set and one mobile phone.

Eye witnesses say there were three criminals. The deceased's corpse is at the Bonassama District Hospital mortuary, pending funeral arrangements. Meanwhile, the Judicial Police has launched a manhunt alongside investigations.
