Kenya: Students Protest Bedbug Attack

Over 500 students from the Kenya Medical Training College in Mombasa yesterday protested over poor sanitation and management of the institution.

The students demanded the removal of college principal Aggrey Yeri whom they accused of running down the institution. They said their beddings have been infested with bedbugs because of the poor hygiene.

In a demonstration that lasted for three hours, the students carried twigs and mattresses and vowed to paralyse learning until Yeri is removed.

They said the college's bus is used to ferry prisoners at Shimo La Tewa Prison instead of taking them for practicals outside the town.

Mombasa acting DC Jude Wasonga promised to address some of the issues raised by students with the college's management.
