Tanzania: Construction Showcase for Dar es Salaam

THE Tanzania Building and Construction Expo (TBCE) has prepared an international business exhibition for the construction sector aimed at showcasing products as well as new technologies used in the industry.

Addressing a news conference in Dar es Salaam on Wednesday, the TBCE Head of Marketing, Mr Zakaria Malcom, said the event will run for three days starting today at the Mlimani City complex. According to Mr Malcom, the exhibition is also aimed at developing the construction industry and promoting it to international.

"Through this the construction business will grow together with modern technology, services and facilities of construction and building," he said. He added: "Only last year, the construction and building sector contributed more than 11 per cent to the GDP, recording volumes amounting to 2. 7trl/-, "the official explained.

He also observed that importation of building and construction materials was now on increase due to investments in the industry by both the private and public sectors. Through the exhibition, he was optimistic that the TBCE would provide citizens with opportunities to do business and interact with other business persons and investors in the construction industry.
