South Africa: HIV - Search for Safe Contraception Receives a Boost

Professor Janet Hapgood of the Department of Molecular and Cell Biology at the University of Cape Town has received US$100 000 to pursue research into the best contraception for women at risk of HIV infection.

The Grand Challenges Exploration (GCE) project funds individuals worldwide who are taking innovative approaches to some of the worldÂ’s toughest and persistent global health and development challenges. GCE invests in the early stages of bold ideas that have real potential to solve the problems people in the developing world face every day.
