Egypt: Morsi Withdraws Nation's Ambassador to Israel Over Gaza Assault

President Mohamed Morsi issued a decision on Wednesday 14/11/2012 to withdraw Egypt's ambassador from Israel over the Israeli airstrikes on the Gaza Strip.

In statements on Wednesday, Presidential spokesman Yasser Ali said Morsi directed Egypt's permanent envoy to the UN to call for an emergency session of the Security Council to discuss the Israeli attack on the Gaza strip.

Morsi also ordered Egypt's Foreign Ministry to summon the Israeli ambassador in Cairo and hand him over a protest against the attack.

Ali said Morsi called on Arab League chief Nabil el-Arabi to hold an emergency meeting of the Arab Foreign Ministers.

Morsi offered condolences on behalf of the Egyptian people over the martyrs of the Palestinian people.
