Gaza Strip — Egypt's Prime Minister Hisham Kandil arrived in the Gaza Strip on Friday, to show support to Palestinians, after Israel struck at more than 130 targets overnight, while militants fired 11 rockets from Gaza.

Israel said it would cease fire during the visit if Hamas did too. But rockets fired from Gaza hit several sites in southern Israel and the Israeli air force responded with an attack on the house of Hamas's commander for southern Gaza, a Hamas source said.

At least 18 Palestinians and three Israelis have been killed since Israel began its offensive on Wednesday.

Israel killed a Palestinian military leader on Wednesday, and started drafting 16,000 reserve troops, sparking intense violence and rumours of an invasion.
