Gambia: GALP Gives Sports Equipment to GAF

Galp Energia Wednesday donated three sets of jerseys, seven footballs and socks to the Gambia Armed Forces (GAF) football team, at a presentation ceremony held at the Defence Headquarters in Banjul.

Speaking at the ceremony, Tijan Jallow, the communication and marketing officer at Galp, said GAF is not a customer but a partner to them, while assuring that their doors are always open to GAF. Jallow highlighted the importance of the armed forces in the country, adding that their importance cannot be overemphasised.

For his part, the deputy permanent secretary at the Ministry of Defence, Abdoulie Kah, commended Galp for the magnificent gesture. He assured Galp that the donated items would be put into good use.

Colonel Sambou Barrow, on behalf of the chief of Defence Staff, thanked Galp for the support. He said the donated items would be used for the military championship (CAMFOOT)that is slated from 3rd - 17th December 2012 in Ivory Coast. Colonel Barrow also assured Galp of their readiness to further strengthen the relationship between them.
