Tunisia: Small Groups of Desert Locusts Spotted in Southern Governorate of Tozeur

Tozeur — Small groups of desert locusts have been spotted on Thursday in the governorate of Tozeur (Southwest Tunisia).

According to the head of the Regional Agricultural Development department (CRDA), contacted by TAP news agency "teams dispatched on the site have spotted small groups of desert locusts in the towns of Hazoua, Chbika and Degèche, but the news shared on social networks speaking of clouds of locusts are an overstatement and the situation is not that alarming."

She affirmed that survey teams are carrying on their monitoring work throughout the region for a possible outbreak of new groups of locusts.
