Windhoek — In an e-mail sent out by the Managing Editor of The Villager newspaper, Confidence Musariri, it was announced the Chief Metro reporter Chris Paul has been suspended immediately for 'work-related violence'.
The e-mail explained that Chris Paul was involved in a scuffle with an unidentified female colleague, who is a senior journalist in its newsroom resulting in the destruction of a company laptop. Details are sketchy at this stage with a hush hanging over the incident, but it is assumed the laptop took 'a big hit'.
The e-mail says the suspension was effected, because the paper sees itself as a voice against gender-based violence (GBV) and subscribes to the principle of non-violence and the creation of a safe working environment for all, regardless of the extent of provocation involved.
It further states that the scribe will be on suspension pending a disciplinary hearing.
