Cabinda — The governor of Cabinda Province, Aldina da Lomba, held Thursday an emergency meeting with the provincial commission of civil protection to assess the damages caused by Wednesday's rain and outline the strategy of support to victims of disaster.
During the meeting the governor received information about damages caused by the rain, which according to the provisional balance of the Civil Protection and Fire Service, resulted in the death of two people and destroyed various residences.
The fatalities are an adult who was electrocuted in a power station in the neighbourhood of 1º de Maio and a child washed away by the rainwater.
Twenty-seven families, totalling 130 people, are in critical condition following the downpour.
After the meeting, the coordinator of the provincial commission of civil protection, Dumbi Francisco, guaranteed assistance to disaster victims in terms of used clothing, blankets, mattresses and sheets of zinc.
