Egypt: PM in Gaza - Egypt to Spare No Effort to End Israeli Assault

Post-revolution Egypt will spare no effort to put an end to the Israeli "aggression" on the Gaza Strip and reach a truce, Prime Minister Hisham Kandil said on Friday during his visit to the strip.

Kandil arrived in the strip on Friday morning to express solidarity with the Palestinian people after an Israeli military attack that began on Wednesday.

"Post-revolution Egypt stands by its Palestinian sons until their rights are restored to them," Kandil said during a joint press conference with head of Hamas government.

The conference was broadcast by the Egyptian state TV.

Kandil also called on on Israel to respect the treaties it signed.

The prime minister urged all Palestinian factions to unite because it is the only way to achieve victory.

"Today Egypt stands alongside Gaza on Palestinian soil. I call on everyone to follow in the footsteps of Egypt," Ismail Haniyeh, head of Hamas government, said.
