Tunisian Official Delegation to Visit Gaza

Carthage — An official high-level delegation led by Foreign Minister Rafik Abdessalem will visit Gaza on Saturday. The delegation includes notably the Director of the Presidential Cabinet and representatives of the Presidency and the Government, said on Friday the Official Spokesman for the Presidency in a written statement.

In a telephone talk on Thursday with Ismaïl Haniyeh, Prime Minister of Gaza Hamas Government, Caretaker President Moncef Marzouki reiterated the unshakeable support of Tunisia to the Palestinian people in their fight against the Israeli occupation forces and denounced "Israel's barbaric strikes on the Gaza strip".

Mr. Marzouki also denounced the complete silence of the International Community on the Israeli hostilities against the Palestinian people, saying that "this silence can only encourage this injustice".

"Tunisia will attend the Arab Foreign Ministers Meeting in Cairo", he added, "and will endeavour to mobilise the support of the Arab League for the brotherly Palestinian people and for the urgent convening of a security council meeting to look at the Israeli offencive against Gaza and impose due sanctions on Israel".

Humanitarian aid will be sent to the Palestinian brothers in Gaza, the President also said.
