Kenya: Transformer Catches Fire
By James Wainaina, 16 November 2012
An electric transformer on Kenyatta Highway in Thika town yesterday blew up. The transformer, located next to the White Line stage, caught fire and paralysed traffic flow on the busy highway in the 1pm incident.
Kenya Power personnel and a fire brigade from the Municipal Council of Thika rushed to the scene immediately and extinguished the fire.
The company could not however say when the transformer will be replaced. Curious members of the public watched from a distance as the fire was being put off.
