Kenya: Cops Save Man From Lynch Mob

A man was rescued from a mob by the police at Makindu in Makueni last night saved.

The mob accosted the man at Palace Hotel accusing him of having stolen five motorbikes last month.

Witness said around a hundred people waited for him outside the hotel and pounced on him.

"He ran towards his car but the angry crowd followed him baying for his blood," the witness said.

The man sought refuge at the hotel while the crowd torched his car.

He was later rescued by Sultan- Hamud police officers who were alerted by wananchi.

He is being held at the police post awaiting prosecution once investigations are over.

He has a pending case at the Makindu law courts.
