Zambia: DEC Nabs Two Over Cocaine

A NIGERIAN business executive and a Zambian woman have been arrested in Luanshya for trafficking in cocaine.

The Drug Enforcement Commission (DEC) arrested Peter Chukwunonso Nwoye, 42, of 50 Y-Avenue along with Anthea Mulenga, a 31 year-old Zambian of 34N Negunso, Luanshya for trafficking in 240g of cocaine.

DEC public relations officer Samuel Silomba said the cocaine was concealed on napkin like materials in a baby bag.

The duo was apprehended in Luanshya after thorough investigations by the Commission and other Security wings regarding information that a parcel suspected to contain cocaine had been sent from South America.

Meanwhile, Mr Silomba said the the Commission had arrested more than 20 people countrywide in the last five days for trafficking in various quantities of illicit drugs.

Those arrested included Nambula Musunga, 43, a peasant farmer of Sizuka area in Sesheke District for trafficking in loose cannabis weighing 120kg and Elijah Kanyanda, 28, of Nkulwashi area in Kabompo district for trafficking in 4.6 kg of cannabis

All suspects are in custody and will appear in court soon.
