President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan has warmly congratulated Mr. Xi Jinping on his emergence as General Secretary of the Communist Party of China, Chairman of the country's Central Military Commission and President-Designate of China.

President Jonathan also applauded and commended Mr. Jinping,the outgoing President Hu Jintao and the Communist Party of China for the orderly transfer of power to a new generation of leaders who have been entrusted with the huge responsibility of leading their great country into an even brighter future.

A statement by the President's spokesperson, Dr Reuben. Abati said Jonathan looks forward to working with Mr. Jinping and other new members of China's top governance organ, the Politburo Standing Committee to further strengthen existing cordial relations between Nigeria and China.
