Nigeria: Kaduna Psychiatric Hospital Underfunded - Medical Director

Kaduna — Out of the eight Federal Neuro-Psychiatric Hospitals in the country that of Kaduna is underfunded, the Medical Director of the hospital Taiwo Lateef Sheikh has said.

According to Sheihk, the Kaduna Federal Neuro-Psychiatric Hospital which takes care of eight northern states and the FCT needs more funding for its operation.

He stated this while addressing the members of the Nigeria Medical and Health Workers Union when they paid him a courtesy visit yesterday.

"Out of the eight Federal Neuro-Psychiatric Hospitals in the country, the Hospital in Kaduna that serve eight Northern states including Abuja is underfunded," Sheihk said, while calling for intervention to enable the hospital serves its purpose.

The National Vice President of the Union Tanimu Lawal Saulawa said that strike actions should not be seen as a disservice.

"The Union is operating under a constitution and we have taken the minister of health and the federal government to the National Industrial Court," Saulawa said.

The branch chairman of the union, Comrade Atule Emmanuel said they have a cordial relationship with the management of the hospital which has translated to development in the hospital.
