Egypt: Local Council for Expatriates to Be Set Up Soon

Manpower & Immigration Minister Khalid al-Azhari asserted on Friday 16/11/2012 that a high council for Egyptian expatriates will be established soon.

This council will be the first institution to handle issues related to Egyptian communities abroad, he said.

During a meeting in Geneva with a number of Egyptians residing in Switzerland, France and the UK, the minister said that this council will be an NGO supervised by the Egyptian presidency.

He noted that any Egyptian expatriate has the right to apply for the council's membership, adding that this body will establish a fund to provide aid to Egyptian nationals living outside Egypt.
