Kenya: Troublemaker Escapes Jail After Scuffle

A man has been handed a six-month suspended sentence for causing trouble at a bar and stoning the owner.

John Kariuki Wanjiku, 31, pleaded guilty to creating disturbance in a manner likely to cause a breach of peace by threatening and stoning Sammy Ng'ang'a Mukuna on September 25 at Gatura in Gatanga.

Prosecutor chief inspector Nancy Muthuri told resident magistrate A.N Oganda that the accused is a known troublemaker.

Wanjiku was treated as a first offender.
