Kano — Gunmen yesterday night shot dead Kano State House of Assembly member representing Garko local government area of the state.
The legislator, Ibrahim Abba Garko, was trailed to a house located at Unguwa Uku area and killed by around 7:30pm.
It was gathered the state lawmaker was fatally shot in the head and chest by two gunmen on a motorcycle.
Two other persons in his company were said to have been wounded on the attack.
Sunday Trust learnt that the lawmaker always visited the house where he met friends.
No group claimed responsibility for the attack up to the time of filing the story. Boko Haram had threatened to attack government officials in Kano and other parts of the state.
Yesterday's killing was, however, the first in which a senior government official of the state was targeted.
All attempts to speak to the Kano State police command's spokesperson were not successful.
