Somalia: AMISOM Commends Its Military Operation in Somalia

Mogadishu — Col. Ali Adam Hamud, the spokesman of the African Union mission in Somalia (AMISOM) said on Saturday that the AU forces are doing good performance in central Somalia.

"This is because to survive our Somali brothers from the worst condition, especially flood victims in Beledweyne and that security and stability should return to this country so that Somali people will be able to live in safe life." Col. Hamud said.

The spokesman told local Media that AMISOM forces have helped government soldiers in Hiiran region to secure and maintain peace and stability in Beledweyne, a key town located 332 Km north of Mogadishu, Somali capital.

AMISOM has sent hundreds of peacekeepers from Djibouti into Beledweyne, to boost security. Mr. Hamud commended the sacrifice made the military men and women from contributing countries including Uganda, Burundi, Djibouti and Kenya.
