Egypt: Erdogan Visit to Egypt

President Mohammad Morsi received visiting Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Egypt on October 16, 2012 for talks on means of boosting relations between the two countries.

Talks dealt with ways of expanding the Egyptian-Turkish partnership and regional and international issues including Palestine and Syria.

After meeting Morsi, Erdogan said in a speech at Cairo University that Israel would "sooner or later" be held to account for "the massacre of these innocent children killed inhumanely in Gaza."

Meanwhile, the two sides signed 6 agreements covering custom Tariffs, management seaports and the development of urban areas.

Foreign Minister Mohammad Kamel Amr also floated a proposal to have 2014 proclaimed the Year of Turkey in Egypt and 2015 the Year of Egypt in Turkey.
