Egypt: Pope Tawadros II Says He Has Big Responsibilities Towards All Egyptians

Enthroned Pope Tawadros II stressed on Sunday 18/11/2012 that he has big responsibilities towards all Egyptians, Copts and Muslims, hoping God would help him succeed in his new mission.

Pope Tawadros II, in a word after his inauguration ceremony at Coptic Orthodox Church, promised to serve all human beings regardless of their religion.

The word was read out on his behalf by Metropolitan Bakhomious of Beheira.

The new pope will lead the Coptic Church, which claims more than 10 million congregants, succeeding late pope Shenouda III who passed away last March.

Hundreds of Egyptian Christians and tens of state officials and international dignitaries packed the Cathedral to mark the event.
