Two residents of Nakwa Village in Babati Distict, Manyara Region have been arrested allegedly for killing a watchman of a produce godown, Guloo Mora when in the process of stealing 30 bags of pigeon peas.
The nabbed suspects were identified as Hamis Juma and Godlisten Lyimo (22). Residents who arrested the two wanted to lynch them but were rescued by by the police.
According to the Regional Police Commander of Manyara, Mr. Akili Mpwapwa, the incident occurred on November 11, this year in Nakwa Village. The deceased was a watchman of Issa Humai's godown.
Mr. Mpwapwa said that the watchman was killed so that the culprits could steal the pigeon peas in the warehouse.
He said after the murder, they covered the body of the deceased with a tarpaulin.
The body of the deceased was taken to the Hospital for investigation and the culprits would be taken to the court immediately after the investigations, said commander Mpwapwa.
