Nigeria: Keffi Residents Lament Over Water Scarcity

Lafia — Residents of Keffi and environs are lamenting over what they described as acute water scarcity in the area. This is coming barely three weeks after water supply was said to have been restored.

"For three weeks now, we have been suffering due to water scarcity. The situation is so bad because here in Keffi, boreholes don't work due to the topography," said a resident who spoke to Daily Trust.

Hajiya Rakyia Asamu, a resident of Angwan Rimi area of Keffi, said her three children have been skipping school hours to trek long distances to fetch water from streams on the outskirt of the metropolis.

The state's commissioner for Works, Engr. Wada Yahaya Mohammed, at the weekend took a tour of the area, and appealed to the residents to be patient.
