Arrangements have been concluded to stage the maiden edition of the annual Nigerian Unity Football Tournament, which will involve all the 774 local government councils in the country.
Disclosing this at the launch of the tournament's branded balls and investiture of ambassadors, patrons and matrons in Abuja, the Project Director Mr. Moses Ebahor said the tournament would kick off in Calabar, Cross Fivers State on December 6, while Abuja would take its turn on December 14.
Ebahor said each of the participating local government teams is expected to pay N25, 000 registration fees, while each individual player would cough out N2000 for registration.
The Project Director, who said the final of the tournament involving all the 36 state champions would hold in Abuja next year, revealed that each member of the winning team would be given admission in the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) in a partnership that would help raise the standard of education among the Nigerian youths.
