The Egyptian Organization for Human Rights (EOHR) expresses sorrow for stopping broadcasting Dream Satellite Channel. At the same time, EOHR calls for stopping these kinds of practices that aims at restricting media and journalistic corporations that criticize the state institutions.
The hosting company, Nile Sat will cut its cable on Friday, November 16, 2012. Nile Sat declared that it will stop Dream broadcasting because of broadcasting from a station does not locate at the state's Media City. Dream broadcasted from Dreamland.
In this regard, EOHR stated that restricting media and journalistic activities is considered as a serious violation to the international standards of freedom of expression, mentioned within the Egyptian constitutional declaration, issued after the Egyptian revolution.
Mr. Hafez Abu Seada, the head of EOHR, calls upon president Morsi's administration to open an immediate investigation on these repeated violations against media and journalistic corporations. All these media specialists terrorizing attempts have to be stopped. Criticizing the state authorities is not criminalized.
