West Africa: Tangier Summit Supports Defence Co-Operation

The 5th MEDays international forum wrapped up Saturday (November 17th) in Morocco, MAP reported. The "Tangier Declaration" issued at the conclusion of the Euro-Med summit proposed a new global security strategy based on regional co-operation and the pooling of defence efforts.
The statement from forum attendees encouraged the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) to take the lead in resolving the Mali crisis. The declaration also urged the Arab League, the EU and other international partners to support initiatives aimed at boosting Maghreb integration.
