Rwanda: Small Enterprises to Up Off Farm Jobs

Kigali — Small and Medium Enterprises are being banked on as one way of increasing employment levels mainly off farm jobs that are currently staggering at 28 percent of total workforce.

The government which is targeting to have created over 3 million off-jobs by 2020 up from the current 1.4 million jobs struggles to boost the SME sector which is likely to bolster the employment levels.

"SMEs contribute more to the economy development through GDP growth and job creation," Mr. Emmanuel Hategeka, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Trade and Industry said.
