Kenya: Aspirants Pledge to Boost Tourism

Two Homa Bay women's representative aspirants have pledged to promote tourism sites to boost the county's income.

Former Nyanza provincial director of education Roseline Onyuka and Gladys Wanga, an NGO employee, said the tourism sites have not been properly marketed.

"There are close to 20 small fishing islands, some with very high potential as tourist destinations, which could be developed to compete with Islands like Malindi, Lamu and Mombasa," said Onyuka

Wanga promised to liaise with the Ministry of Tourism and county leaders to market the sites. The two were speaking in an interview with the Star.
