Nigeria: Tinubu's Aide Assassinated in Ogun

Few hours to the installation of Asiwaju Bola Tinubu as Aare Ago of Egbaland, his close aide and former chairman of Ikeja Local Government Area of Lagos State, Toyin Hamzat, was gunned down by men suspected to be hired killers.

Hamzat, who also was a Special Assistant to the former Lagos State Governor was said to have been gunned down at Sagamu area of Ogun state on Sunday night.

In another development, two policemen attached to Olodo area of Egbado North Council Area were killed by gunmen who had attacked the cattle market in the early hours of Monday.

The police confirmed the two incidents, yesterday, with arrest of five suspects, including a couple believed to have a link to the murder of Hamzat.

Muyiwa Adejobi, the Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer confirming the two incidents to LEADERSHIP said that the killing of the former council chairman "is purely a murder case and five persons have been arrested."
