Nigeria: 23 Die in Zamfara Multiple Accidents

Gusau — A multiple fatal accident involving a bus and a Golf car along Sokoto-Gusau road today claimed the lives of 23 people while scores sustained various degrees of injuries, State Sector Commandant of the Federal Road Safety Mallam Ibrahim Sarki confirmed to Daily Trust.

He said the bus left its lane and had a head- on collision with an oncoming Golf car thereby killing 17 people in the vehicles. Six other people were confirmed dead when another bus skidded off the road and crashed into a nearby bush.

Sarki further explained that the victims were rushed to a hospital in Talata Mafara local government area of the state while the relations of the other victims have evacuated them to Sokoto.

The executive governor of the state Alhaji Abdul Aziz Yari Abubakar who was at the scene of the accident summoned the officials of Federal Road Safety Commission at the government house Gusau to discuss about the accident.

Road users have been expressing worries over the frequent auto crashes that have been claiming the lives of people for a long time, mostly attributed to the recklessness of motorists.
