Gambia: West League Final Ends in Stalemate

Serrekunda West Sports Organisation League Nawettan final failed to produce a winner in a fierce tussle between Latrikunda United-based West Coast and Pencha.

Samger and Pencha Midfielder Boto Manneh delivered the goodies after only four minutes ticking on the lock in the first phase - a lead which was cancelled only after the break.

It would have been a splendid bit to Pencha's 20 years celebration - the oldest team in the SK West Nawettan -but one of West Coast's constant attacks wrecked it all for the all whites.

From re-start, Morro Jobe saved Coach Dawda Njie's blushes poking in an in swing effort which sped past a helpless goalkeeper Ansumana Samateh to nestle to the back of the net for the equaliser.

The final however failed to produce a winner but the would-be scintillating replay is scheduled for next Friday.

In a separate final at the West mini-stadium, Kanifing United ran out victors for their first silverware of the season following a 5-3 shoot-out win over Blackpool in the Knockout Cup.

The duel was another replayed game after the first meeting ended in a stalemate. Saturday's showdown ended a one-all affair in the first half with Lamin Touray opening the score for Blackpool before season nine-goal Aziz Mendy restored pride for Kanifing with a last-gasp equaliser.
