Gambia: Metro Security Service Bags Sub-Regional Award

The Gambia's Metro Security Service has bagged an award for its commitment to the promotion and development of peace and stability in the West African sub- region. The award was endowed on the security firm on 30th October 2012 by the African Leadership Magazine based in Nigeria at the Magazine's second annual West African Security and Safety awards dinner held in the Ghanaian capital, Accra.

Speaking to this reporter, Modou Lamin Camara, the managing director of Metro Security Services extolled the award as a big achievement for Metro Security Services and also for him. According to him, there are certain qualities which Metro Security Service possesses and which they also needed to meet; like quality security provider, efficient and effective security solution and management among others.

"Personally, security is what I know as I have spent 10 years with The Gambia Armed Forces (GAF) where I was trained under various disciplines. Coming back to the awards it will serve as international exposure that enables me learn what is persistent in other countries and that The Gambia today can boast of complete security and stability within the sub-region," he said.

Camara revealed that the security company was founded in March 2011, offering basic man guarding, which is providing security or protection for 24 hours. He emphasised that the training programmes he issued counted a lot in Metro Service being awarded such a prestigious award. The training programme includes practical security procedures, introduction to law, fire triangle, health and safety, emergency procedures, among others.

According to him, the private security The Gambia. He therefore thanked the Gambian leader for creating the enabling environment to make The Gambia a crime-free state and also the high regards he has for the national security as he continually improves the standard of professionalism.

He also commended the minister of Interior for bridging the gap between the national security services and the private security firms with the general public as a whole. "I thank the employees of Metro Security Service and my family for their cooperation," Camara finally remarked.
