Ghana: Second IEA Presidential Debate Comes Off Tomorrow, Hassan Ayariga Pulls Out

press release

The Institute of Economic Affairs (IEA) will tomorrow host again, the presidential candidates of the four political parties with representation in parliament.

Date: Tuesday 20th November, 2012

Time: 6:30 pm

Venue: State House, Accra

This time however Mr. Hassan Ayariga will not take part as he cites ill health and the death of Former Veep, Aliu Mahama, as his reasons for deciding not to attend. He said it was inappropriate for the IEA to carry on with debate since Ghanaians are still mourning.

Mrs. Jean Mensah, Executive Director of the IEA however said that the late Aliu Mahama is a man of democracy and would want the debate to go ahead. On preparation for tomorrow's debate, she said that they were 90 percent through.
