Swakopmund — Coastal Namibia Rugby Union (NRU) Premier League campaigners Dolphins Rugby Club officially rewarded its top achievers and supporters at a prestigious awards ceremony in Swakopmund, recently.
Awards and tokens of appreciation were handed to players, sponsors and those who have assisted the club throughout the year. The main award went to 20-year-old Ngume Nguaiko, who was named Senior Player of the Year and who also walked away with the Player's Player of the Year award, while the Achiever of the Year award went to Quinton Fielding with Lovelle Delie scooping the Junior Player of the Year accolade.
In his address, Dolphins coach Rudi Diergaardt said this year has seen improved performance by the team.
"The Dolphins first team gained much needed experience playing in the 2012 Rugby Premier League. The club has put strategies in place to help achieve their goals and have introduced new programmes, which are aimed at lifting the standard of the players," he said.
Diergaardt further reaffirmed the team's commitment, saying they are determined to step up their game come next season.
