Egypt: Morsi Authorizes Defense Minister to Declare General Mobilization

President Mohamed Morsi released two republican decrees whereby he delegated two of his presidential powers namely the declaration of general mobilization and suspension of rulings passed by military tribunals, to Minister of Defense General Abdel-Fattah al-Sisi.

According to the first decree the authorization relating to general mobilization will run for one year starting from the 1st of November 2012.

The second decree authorizes the Minister of Defense to commute and suspend, permanently or for a certain period, the rulings passed by military tribunals.
