Rwanda: Niyonshuti Improves but Team SA Leads

TEAM Rwanda Kalisimbi rider Adrien Niyonshuti recovered from a sluggish stage 2, Kigali-Muhanga performance to finish fourth in stage 3, Muhanga-Huye and moved up to seventh position in the general classification of the 2012 Tour du Rwanda.

Rwanda's top rider finished a distant 31st in stage 2 (44.1km) after using 01h16'45" but improved in stage 3 (72.4km) where he clocked 1h49'12"10.

He has reduced the gap between him and the Tour leader Lil Daren of Team South Africa to 38 seconds. Daren came second in stage two and won stage three. Niyoshuti, who rides for South African professional Team MTN, is seventh in general classification with 06h55'40.

Daren, 30 goes into today's fourth stage, Huye-Karongi wearing the Yellow Jersey. He takes it from Canadian Remi Roy Pelletier of Team Quebecor Garneau.

In general classification after 274, 2 km, Team South Africa's Daren leads the standing with 6h55'02", followed by his two team mates Ward Shaun and Girdlestone Dylan with 06h55'16"14 and 06h55'09"07, respectively.

After a bad morning (Kigali-Muhanga), Rwandan riders improved in stage three. Hadi of Team Rwanda Kalisimbi came 14th with 1h49'43"41, Uwizeyimana (Team Rwanda Akagera) came 17th after clocking 1h49'54"52, Rudahunga (Team Rwanda Kalisimbi) came 22nd with 1h50'10", Hategeka (Team Rwanda Akagera) clocked 1h50'10".

Team South Africa is leading the Tour after winning the opening three stages.
